What is a Distinguished Professorship?

The professor of distinction designation honors a current or potential tenured professor who has achieved recognition well above the criteria for the rank of professor and be considered one of the best scholars in the discipline.

Distinguished Professorship endowments must be supported at the minimum endowment level prescribed by NC State Advancement naming opportunities. These endowments may be funded in part by the Distinguished Professors Endowment Trust Fund or 100% by donor.
