What happens if my net pay does not fund the multiple deposit accounts I have listed for my payroll distribution?

Your paycheck net pay will be distributed in the order it is set up. If your net pay falls below your direct deposit distribution setup, differences will be encountered beginning with the last account and working in reverse order of distribution.

For example:

  • $500 is designated to account #1
  • $500 is designated to account #2
  • The remaining balance is designated to account #3

If your net pay is $812, $500 goes to Account #1 and $312 goes to Account #2. No amount goes to Account #3.

OrderDistribution SetupNet pay
Account #1$500$500
Account #2$500$312
Account #3Remaining Balance$0

When you know your net pay will not cover the direct deposit distribution on file (and, presumably, you should know this in advance), you should go into your direct deposit setup and make a change before payroll is confirmed.
